This review is from: Eachine E10W Mini Wifi Quadcopter With HD Camera 2.4G 4CH 6 Axis LED RC Nano Quadcopter Drone FPV Mode 2 (Toy)
While reading the reviews, I noticed that EVERY ONE OF THEM was for the Eachine E10C.

    Let me explain…

Amazon sells many things by their color. This works for a lot of things, but sometimes, they mess up (like in this case)

While sorting things into color for other products works well, the two “colors” advertised by Amazon are NOT ACTUAL COLORS!

The “colors” are actually two entirely different drones- the Eachine E10C and Eachine E10W. The latter costs more and therefore you probably bought the E10C. (Although I understand that many E10C reviewers got theirs at a discounted price in exchange for an honest review)

I know what you’re thinking- “So what, it’s just one letter!”

But that letter changes one major feature that is very hard to find in a decent mini drone.

The E10W actually does pretty much the same thing as the E10C- It flies (of course), and has a camera that takes pics and videos. The camera is hard enough to find in a mini drone, but the E10W’s other feature is only found on three or four mini drones I know of.

Okay, enough with the waiting, The E10W’s special feature is (pause for effect) FPV vision!!!

Yes, I know most of you don’t know what in the world that is, so let me explain:

On a drone, FPV vision is when there is an extra screen on the remote or an app on a device (usually a smartphone) that allows the pilot of the drone to “see” out of the drone’s camera by way of the onboard screen. (In the case of the E10W, it is a phone app, obtained by scanning a QR code on the box). FPV vision helps in two major things: 1.) It helps you actually see what you are recording. This may not make that much sense, but you may not know how annoying and disappointing it is to plug the drone into a computer, only to see the drone was backwards the whole time, therefore recording almost nothing of interest, or worse, to figure out you never actually turned the drone’s camera on! 2.) FPV helps to control the drone from a distance. If the drone is too far away, you really can’t tell which direction it is facing, and (assuming it is not a “headless” drone- kinda complicated, but long story short this drone is not one of those), you can’t really figure out how to fly it back to you. If you hit the wrong control stick, the drone may fly further away, and lose connection. Therefore (unless you can see where it landed), unless you can see where it landed, you are most likely never going to see your drone again, especially if it is a mini drone like this one. But with FPV, you can see which direction it is facing by way of the camera, and then make sure it is facing the right way before trying to fly it back.

Hopefully, people start to realize that the E10W is not an overpriced “color” like people seem to see it…

There was huge black scratches on front of controler and no screw on the back for battery compartment. Looks like I got a used one. I contacted customer service and they were amazing on getting my problem fixed asap.

This tough little mini copter survived flight and crashes, and is still going strong!, April 11, 2016

Customer Video Review Length:: 1:54 Mins

There’s something especially fun and relaxing about flying a quadcopter in your back yard. Kind of makes us grownups feel like kids again.

This was our first ever remote control droid quadcopter purchase, and we really did not know what we were doing. Copter flying turned out to be a whole lot of fun and we didn’t break it or lose it! Well, we did break a propeller, but those are easily replaceable, with the included spares. The little machine is much tougher than its propellers.

I’m including a video that shows some our first beginner attempts at flying the copter, and shows some of the wild video that the copter camera recorded during some of its shorter flights.

The quadcopter comes with a charging cable. The controller needs (2) AA batteries, and the copter needs a micro SD memory card so you can get photos and video.

The instructions are printed super-tiny, so they are a little hard to follow. One thing that threw us off at first was that the instructions we got with ours mentioned removing the little lithium polymer battery to charge it, and we couldn’t figure out how to do that. The copter didn’t seem to be designed to take apart for battery charging. As it turns out, that is advice for larger drones. For this mini, just plug the charger directly into the charging port on side of the copter.

The little quadcopter is surprisingly fast. It can be challenging to control when you’re first starting out. It’s a good idea to get to know the buttons on the controller before you begin, and practice in an area with enough space that you can avoid obstacles. You will observe that the copter does not always move in the direction you are steering it. If you can, practice indoors first, till you know what to expect from it, so it won’t get lost outside. Do make sure you start out on the slowest speed. We accidentally got ours set to the fastest speed, and it started getting away from us. The copter can fly higher than your house in just a couple of seconds, so be careful not to lose it! The little propellers spin fast, so be sure to keep it flying a safe distance from people and pets. Just as we took ours outside to fly, the wind started picking up, and I think that added to the challenge of controlling the flight.

There’s a process of “resetting the trim”, to bring it back to its starting trim settings and make it a little easier to control. Before we learned about re-setting, the little copter was flying a little wild and crazy. That’s how we found out that the propellers are breakable…when ours flew into a door!

Not to worry…there are 4 spare propellers included in the package. There are 2 shapes of propellers, and it’s crucial to get the correct shape in the right spot if you need to replace one. Ideally, you will get it to rise and hover. We achieved a hover indoors, where the wind wasn’t blowing, so I expect we’ll get better at that in the future.

If the copter picks up a long hair, it will get wrapped around the propeller post super-quickly, and make it not spin right. If it starts to not respond right, check to see if anything needs cleared from the tiny propeller posts.

Our copter has so far survived multiple crash landings, and keeps on going! We’ll try to choose a less windy day next time we take the copter out. I think we beginners will improve our flying skills, with practice, and I think have even more fun with this!

I bought this quadcopter with a promotional discount, in exchange for providing a review. There’s no obligation to give a positive review, just to honestly report on our experience flying the copter, so that’s what I’ve done here for you.
