This is one of the best portable wireless speakers I have ever used, if not the best. I’ve never really owned high end speaker systems and when I get the chance to review such products as the GGMM M4 speaker I am very anxious to see how it performs. I am no audiophile, but I do appreciate good crisp sound with thumping bass. The M4 did not disappoint! There are many features that help separate this speaker from other wireless speakers truly setting it apart from the competition. The price is little higher than I normally would consider to spend on, but the quality helps justify the expense.
Speaker reviews are always interesting to me because it is a challenge to communicate what I am experiencing on my end of the camera and mic. The shotgun mic on my Lumix FZ300 is pretty good and helps produce good sound. Therefore, while watching the video you will experience something similar to what I am hearing, although not perfect. But let me tell ya, the sound is clear and the bass hits well. My only complaint about the sound is the volume could be a little louder. However, with that said this one speaker fills my 3 bedroom one story home with sound. There are some features that could help boost the volume and I will list those off below. First, watch and listen the video review and once finished continue on down the page for more about the M4.
As you can tell from the video the M4 is high quality, sounds good, and looks great! This is truly the best wireless speaker I have owned. It’s fun and a joy to listen to my music with.
Some of my favorite characteristics of the GGMM M4 wireless speaker the ability to use WiFi versus Bluetooth, you can connect more speakers to either give a surround sound effect or place in multiple rooms to play the same audio, and the build quality. The M4 is made of leather, durable materials, and audio parts to make a great speaker. I also like the fact that you can control the speaker’s features with a mobile app.
As I mentioned above, I don’t have much to complain about with this speaker other than the volume could use a little boost. But it is by no means a deal breaker. It’s great that there is Spotify compatibility, but I would love to have Google Music added to that list as well. I normally don’t have music on my device, but stream from Google Play Music. In order to enjoy my music like I normally do Bluetooth is the best method to use.

What is this, and what’s it supposed to do?:
This is a portable speaker that allows you to access your audio wirelessly via a wifi connection, or via connection with a Bluetooth enabled device. In addition, a provided 3.5mm audio cord is provided for Aux mode. A bass boosting equalizer option is included to provide customization to the listening experience. The speaker’s most unique feature is the ability to link multiple speakers via wifi. At the posting of this review, the speaker is priced at the ceiling of what I call the “Premium Plus” range (FYI, my personal scale of price points is budget= <$30; mid-range = >$30-$80; premium= .$80-$150; premium plus= $150-$200; deluxe=>$200).
Does it work?: Yes, and very well. I’ve tested the speaker for several weeks now and have the following observations to share:
Charging: A wall charger is included and LED lights indicate a full charge.
Wifi play: An air play option via wifi is a unique feature of the M4 and is quite easy to use as the instruction manual and the app walk you through it in simple steps. Briefly, you download the free app, put the speaker into “wifi” mode and then choose the “GGMM” option (instructions list exact title) in the wifi settings on your phone. When that step is complete, you simply return to the app and it walks you through choosing the air-play option and you’re ready to play your audio. My connection is excellent and produces an excellent sound.
Bluetooth: Placing the speaker into bluetooth mode automatically begins the pairing process. The speaker becomes discoverable as “GGMM_M4” and once selected pairs within a few seconds. Connection is good and sound quality via Bluetooth is good.
Aux in: A 3.5mm audio cord is provided for wired use of the speaker. Sound is of excellent quality via wired connection.
Build: Larger than many others in its class, at 14.5″ in length, a 6 inch width and a 7 1/2″ height the M4 has a sturdy build. Wrapped in leather and with brushed aluminum around grilles, the speaker has a durable design. Even the leather carry strap is thick and ready for heavy use.
Appearance: The leather wrapped wooden cabinet looks sharp, and the black grilles are contrasted nicely by the brushed aluminum trim. Buttons on the top panel are low profile and the small indicator lights are not bothersome during nighttime use. Overall a retro look that still manages a quite modern feel.
Sound quality: Again, the M4 competes at the ceiling of what I call the “Premium Plus” category at $200 and it meets or exceeds my expectations for that price point. Bass is excellent on the M4, reproducing rich, deep lows and holding up just fine without the “bass” EQ option. That option is nice for some genres such as bass heavy hip hop, but generally isn’t a requirement. Mids are smooth and clear and highs are lucid and crisp. All of this holds true at top volumes and across modes, with no distortion noted. Wifi produces the best sound, but I don’t hear significant drop off in bluetooth mode. It doesn’t quite hit the volume that its appearance would suggest, but the volume is by no means lacking; the M4 has room filling sound.
Anything else of note?:

Any negatives?:
-While max volumes meet expectations, there are times where I find myself wishing for just a bit more.
Bottom line: The M4 is a solidly built and attractive speaker with the unique ability to access audio in Wifi mode via Air-play. Bluetooth and Aux in modes are also available, and the sound quality justifies the Premium Plus price point at which the speaker currently competes. While the speaker is larger than many others in its range, it functions flawlessly throughout all modes, and reproduces sound that is at least competitive with speakers priced $100 higher. I like it, and it is likely to satisfy many shoppers who were planning to spend more. Enjoy!
