    Amazing, April 25, 2012

I’m familiar with fluance as I own the AVHTB+ which I think are brilliant speakers… And they are the reason I bought these, if those ones are so good for so little money, I was burning to know what their top of the line speakers sound like. Well these speakers are amazing, they blow the AVHTB out of the water, I was worried my amp might not have enough juice to power these as they are 4 ohm speakers (confirmed this with the company). It’s doing ok, I have it nicely ventilated and I haven’t cranked the speakers too hard, going to get a better amp in the next week. The first couple of hours they sounded a little off, it’s true about break in period because they really sounded better after a couple of hours. I played cds I’ve owned for 15 years and have heard on dozens of sound systems, I heard things in the albums I’ve not heard before. They are really nicely balanced, perfect amount of bass, they need some volume though, with the amp turned down for late at night listening they are just there, but when you turn it up they really come alive. Although taste is subjective I think they sound a little better than the B&W 605’s I’ve heard, I really liked those speakers but I think I’m more of a fan of silk domed tweeters rather than aluminum or titanium, the B&W’s to me sounded a little harsh at the high end. They certainly sound better than the mid range Klipsch and Polks I’ve listened too and they look much better…. I can’t believe these speakers are so cheap, they don’t look or sound cheap, the build quality is amazing, for instance the rear binding posts are ridiculous, there is no need for them, they are massive, they make my 12 gauge speaker wire look pathetic. These suckers are big too, very tall and heavy, they weigh almost 50lbs each I was going to have them as part of a surround sound system and maybe use the towers for the AVHTB as rears but now I think I might just go to 2.0. I don’t think I need surround sound anymore, I’m starting to think it’s a substitute for powerful speakers and amps, I can’t wait to see what a 200 watt per channel 2.0 amp can do to these. You can color me a Fluance fanboy now. Realistically the only way I think these speakers could be improved is with real wood veneer rather than vinyl. Don’t get me wrong I think the vinyl looks great, it even has wood grain indentations in it, but that is the only improvement I think that could be made, I don’t see how the sound can be improved. No, I’ve never heard $20,000 audiophile setups and I probably never will, my setup costs less than a grand and its the best I’ve ever heard anywhere.

    Amazing Speakers!!!!, April 3, 2013

I’ve had a pair of XL7F’s fro a month now and absolutely love them. I was worried about my choice to go with a speaker that i knew nothing about, and have been so pleased that i took a chance with them. These speakers are very revealing, transparent with extensive sound-stage. Classical music and Jazz really open them up. My set are extremely warm and revealing, i love the sound, almost like a electrostatic speaker, but with much more punch. Vocals sound amazing, you’ll be shocked by the imaging ability of these speakers. They are really great with video as well which is really nice.

As for set up, i use these primarily for music and have them wired to a Infinity interlude sub which seems to be a decent match. I also have a Sonographe SA-120 Amp hooked to a forte F45, which sounds really warm with these speakers. I see many people wondering if their systems can run these speakers, my advice would be 120 watts minimum, I don’t know much about surround systems, but would recommend a receiver company that makes solid power Amps for their units….I’ve always heard that Onkyo makes solid power supplies for their receivers.

As for sources, I’ve been listening to allot of vinyl through these speakers, and they have re-sparked my addiction to searching old record store which i have loved. My table is a Project duet through a Rotel Phono-stage which sounds amazing with these speakers!! Again classical music and Jazz sound best, Rock sounds great to as long as it’s mixed properly. For fun i played some classic NWA vinyl 100 miles and running and it sounded great, and had my girlfriend cracking up. Sade sounds amazing, and Tom Pretty’s Damn the torpedoes sounds really great too. I recently picked up a bunch of Duke Ellington on vinyl which sounds amazing, it’s like the band is in the room with you, and Jazz at the Pawnshop makes me feel like i’m in the bar where it was recorded….Really nice effect. As for CD’s, i have an old DVD player that i use; it sounds great to my ear, and streamed music sounds just as nice…

On a final note, i once worked in a stereo store selling all high end equipment, Rowland Amps, David Wilson audio speakers, Threshold preamps, Goldmund turntables, all really ultra high end high stuff. We had a Midfi room that had all the Martin logan B&W and similar equipment which is mainly what you sell. The issue with these speakers is where do you put them? If i had a midfi store like most stores, they would make it hard to sell all the other speakers which are twice the price. This is the only reason that i can figure that you don’t see them in stores…..they would kill everything else on the floor because of the price.

Hope this helps!! I’d also like to hear more about what others think of these…..I love the Sound!!!

Fluance had me convinced as to the quality of their product after I purchased their SV10S High Fidelity Surround Sound Speakers for my dining area. They sounded amazing. I found it hard to believe how amazing considering the price.
I read the reviews on the Fluance XL7F speakers, and anxiously waited for the the UPS God for delivery.
The were well double packaged and all in perfect condition. After patiently waiting for the 10 hour seasoning period. Put on my the usual Rush 2112 (Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab mastered) and The new Immersion Dark Side of the moon. I swear I hear things I have never heard before, rich highs and the bottom was so deep that I put away my subwoofer.
Fluance can offer these great speakers at this great price because they sell them straight from their own manufacturing plant. So you are not paying for the middle man, or any other extra costs involved.
I strongly suggest trying these out for the 30 day money back guarantee period before you spend 2000 on speakers that do not sound as good!
