I returned this unit for a full refund and instead ordered a Yamaha RX-V475. I am much happier with the Yamaha and do not have nearly as much video lag when gaming.

Amazing light weight -10 lb 85W x 5 A/V Receiver from Harman Kardon.,
PRO:
1. The surround sound decoder does work on Dolby Digital & DTS HD audio formats.
2. The HDMI 1080P display color quality looks good on TV.
3. The front control panel looks beautiful with a white LED back-light volume knob. The LED will turn off when SLEEP function is activated.
4. The $399 price tag is not too bad.
5. Very quiet operation while powering UP & DOWN the receiver. I did not hear any mechanical noise or pops at all.
6. Tone control (BASS & TREBLE)is programmable for each input source.
CON:
1. The only weakness of this product is the OSD (On-screen setup MENU) that looks simple with B&W screen – not very user friendly for Bluetooth setup. Need to turn the volume to the maximum on my tablet, in order to hear the sound from the receiver in BT mode.
2. No HDMI pass-through in STANDBY.
Conclusion:
Overall, the receiver works fine so far & with clean sound.
Power consumption test: (measured by a digital wattage meter)
OPERATION MODE (volume at -30db): power consumption is about 42 watts.
STANDBY MODE:
Stage 1 – “device sleep” message is shown, power consumption is about 9 watts..
stage 2: display is blank, power consumption < 1 watts.

Excellent network receiver,
Instead, I use the VTuner feature to listen to live radio stations over the Internet – which can be hit or miss depending on the receiver.
Fortunately, the VTuner implementation in this receiver is the best I’ve ever used! It’s very fast at picking up stations, and doesn’t have any problems keeping them streaming. If I turn the Harmon Kardon off while playing a specific station, it will pick back up within seconds of turning it back on – instead of the long ‘buffering’ period that I’d grown accustomed to.
I know this may not be a primary usage for a lot of people; but, if you do care about the VTuner network streaming – I would highly recommend this receiver.
As far as the other features go:
– The sound quality is excellent for this price range. I use a higher-end Denon receiver in my main home theater setup and it definitely sounds better than this HK. The Denon was, however, 3 times the cost and is hooked to better speakers – so I would expect it to sound better.
– If all your equipment uses HDMI (which most does these days), then you should be good to go with this receiver since it offers 5 inputs. If, on the other hand, you have other connection types – you will probably find this receiver lacking.
– Network setup is a breeze as long as you have a cable available.
Personally I think this is an excellent solution for people who are looking for good sound from a basic receiver. If, for example, you plan to hook up a Roku and a Wii/Xbox – and also want the wireless streaming, then this should be at the top of your list.
