Our small take on the P502uiB1E.

We purchased this set from Walmart during the black Friday sale. We got home and set the TV in place. This is replacing a $1500 42″ LG tv (that now resides in the bedroom). We were surprised at how much lighter this set was compared to the previous set given the fact that it is a larger tv. We would have loved to have purchase a larger 4k TV but due to our setup this is the biggest we could go. We have a 3D projector and 100″ screen that we use when we want to really feel like we are at the movies :-)

The sound out of the box is horrible! The only way I know how to describe it is that it has a box sound to it. A lot better once we adjusted the EQ. We will use our receiver when we sit to enjoy the shows we watch weekly and for movies. We have always used the receiver that way before, so nothing different for us.

We adjusted the settings for the picture using calibration disc. Adjusted to our eyes. Not the best way but it will do for us. Much better than factory settings so we highly recommend getting a calibration Blu-ray.

The picture from Satellite looks good. We watched some hockey and no issues with action. Flesh tones vary depending on what channel we are watching but overall very acceptable picture.

We streamed a few 4K videos and as they looked great, we were not overly impressed due to the compression. Probably our internet speed.

Then we watched a few Blu-ray movies. We were completely blown away by the picture. At times… breathtaking. From deep inky blacks and great shadow detail, color looked spot on and very realistic flesh tones. There is detail that we just never saw before on any TV.

Overall, This 4k tv is a keeper. We are very happy that we were able to get it at a great price and even happier once it was all set up.

These settings come from a forum member whom deserves all the credit. I have only tweaked a couple of his settings to suit our taste.
Try these settings to see what you think. You can always choose factory settings or worse case you can reset to factory defaults.

This is only a helpful guide. I highly suggest getting a calibration dvd/Blu-ray. This will help you to make your picture even better.

    Auto Brightness Control: Off
Backlight: 75 (higher or lower depending on amount of light in the room)

    Brightness: -1, 0, -4, -5, 1, 0

    Save your settings.
Make sure you assign your new setting to the input(s) you wish to use these settings on (ex. HDMI 1, HDMI 2 and so on).
Sit back and enjoy your new 4K TV.

You can’t go wrong with this set., March 12, 2015

I typically don’t review items that I don’t buy on Amazon but felt I should write briefly about this TV. I’m one of those who got the set at Walmart, at a very reduced price. I know that there is another 50″ model with higher refresh rates but I have to say I haven’t noticed any motion lag yet. I haven’t watched any footballs being thrown down field but my ordinary viewing whether on Satellite or Netflix has left me impressed that Vizio could produce a 4K set that could still be sold for under $700. I do want to recommend that you enter the custom settings provided by another Amazon reviewer. Following these calibration settings takes a very good picture and makes one that is great. Out of the box, without calibration, the contrast and color is just a little funky. However, the calibration really makes the picture pop. Nearly perfect flesh tones and inky blacks can be obtained. In regard to the last, the local dimming that is used works very well. For example, the end credits of White Collar have text superimposed on a black background. On this set the black background looks as black as the black bezel surrounding the screen.

As for negatives, I don’t understand why manufacturers don’t have at least one calibration that is set up right. Not everyone wants to go into the set’s adjustment menu at the level necessary to make those changes. The other complaint is that the sound is not great likely due to the thinness of the set. We remedied that with a $70 Vizio 2.0 soundbar which sounds reasonably good.

Aside from some ghosting, during SOME fast motion scenes, the picture quality is equal to the 240hz model aside from the extra bump in smooth motion video capabilities. 120hz works just fine for me. Picture quality is outstanding. I’ve never seen upconversion look so good. go to your local Walmart and check out their demo. This TV rocks!
