Not perfect, but works well.,
When first connected each session, it seems to click out maybe 5-6 times the first half a minute. Nothing major, just ever-so-brief, split second cutouts, just at first, then no problems for the rest of the session. I don’t experience this with other bluetooth audio streaming, so I can only assume it has something to do with the Jabees itself. Not a deal breaker by any means, just a bit quirky.
I get about 5 and a half, to 6 hours of continuous play from a charge, which I thought was pretty good for the size. They spec at “up to” 7 hours, and we all know how well battery life outside of the lab lives up to their claims, so I have no complaints. I keep the Jabees volume all the way up, and my phone is from half to 3/4 volume, depending on music or audiobook output.
After a few charge cycles now, it’s a pretty consistent 2 hours to fully charge from my 1 amp Samsung phone charger. That seems a bit long to me, since it’s such a small battery. I’d probably go to 5 stars if the charge time was less, maybe an hour or under is what I’d find acceptable.
It starts giving a short burst of beeps when the battery gets down to the last few minutes. They keep repeating, until the battery is fully dead I’d assume, but I just turn it off at that point, since the notifications come pretty close together and are a bit annoying. Useful and practical, but annoying all the same. Necessary evil I guess.
The headphones that come with it sound good enough. Kind of a silicone type cord. Plyable and flexible, but a bit prone to tangle. They can’t tangle too much though, as the cable length is designed to work with this small remote receiver. One ear cord is longer than the other, so that the Jabees can be clipped to one side of a collar, or shirt sleeve, for example, without a big loop of cord hanging down getting tangled or caught on stuff. The cord is not long enough to reach your waist, and this works well if clipped to the upper part of your shirt. Pros and Cons to this design, so take it for what it’s worth. Just some good info to know. Also the earbuds themselves, while marked for L/R channels, are a universal design and can be used in either ear. They’re not uncomfortable, and come with 3 sizes of replaceable ear canal cups. Pretty standard fare as far as ear buds go in that regard.
I’ve used some other headphones with it… some cheap Panasonics, some Plugfones, some generics… I’d say the bluetooth receiver quality is good, and although I’m no audiophile, I’d say it’s a safe bet that the earbuds/headphones would still be the weak link in this circuit. I’ve used it with stock Samsung music player, Poweramp, and Smart audio book, and all sound plenty good to me.
So I can’t comment on the phone calling characteristics, nor do I use the track switching buttons, since I control it all from my phone. I’m a little disappointed in the charge times, but given the otherwise acceptable results I’ve had, the minimalistic size, and the reasonable price point, I just bought a second one, so I have one to use while the other is charging.
