  I bought this at what I feel was an outstanding price for a 55-inch 4K unit. As it is a brand new model from LG there were no reviews when I purchased it (Nov 23), but I am familiar with the overall good reputation of LG and the other LG 4K models that were on display looked great. Set-up was a breeze, four screws secure the two legs to the base of the unit. Plug it in, follow some instructions to set up the basics and you’re ready.

  There are now some reviews written around the web and I did notice some negative comments about the OS. Those are mostly true, it is limited, and is one factor to keep this from receiving a 5 star rating. That said, my Sony Blu-Ray Disc Player is what I use to access my VuDU Account and my Amazon Prime, anyway, so it is really a non-issue for me. Factually, as my BD player has the capability I would have preferred a non-Smart TV, but it does not seem to be available in 4K.

  The colors are fantastic on my unit. Beautiful blues. Great greens. Black blacks. Robust reds. Etc. You can also tweak colors a bit via Picture Mode Settings to your personal tastes. The sound is not bad for a TV but I never use TV sound. I have a JBL Cinema SB100 Soundbar that is connected, sitting at the base of the LG, and as I am sitting and watching Jurassic World right now the colors and sound are exactly what I wanted. I also like that it has 3 HDMI connections.

  The OS and sound keep this LG 55-inch 4K Ultra HDTV from being a 5, but, for me, this is a solid 4-plus. Note: be sure that your HDMI cable is newer and is compatible with 4K as that can make a difference. I use and love Blue Rigger for all my HDMI and Optical cables.

  I guess it’s true when they say you get what you pay for. The TV is light, sleek and has tons of great features especially displaying at True 24 fps for movies. But regardless of how much you tweak and play with the settings, the colors look bland and faded. I would not recommend this TV for someone who wants to use it for a home theatre experience. This TV is the one you’d buy for a living room where people don’t watch tv as much in there. It’s one of those “Hey it’s the holidays , Let’s suck people into buying this sub par TV. If that’s what you are looking for then this is your TV , but if you want sharp picture and vivid colors…..this is NOT the TV for you

  Setup was a breeze. Picture takes some playing around with to have it fit your taste. I still find myself after 4 days playing around with the settings, but haven’t had any of the bland colors people were talking about, only time was when I forgot I had played around with the colors and settings and left them on a weird setting.

  Apps work great, only negative on the apps is I wish it had plex/roku, which you could get through the OS, but truthfully the TV doesn’t have the same quality I get through my ROKU. That being said Netflix and Amazon seem to be higher quality than through my ROKU. Apps are good, wish there were more, but truthfully I really only going to use Netflix, Hulu, Pandora, and Youtube (haven’t used yet, will update when do).
  Watched football yesterday, no motion problems, quality, colors, and overall quality were great. Brightness on sports mode was a bit much, so I tamed that by switching to a higher energy setting.

  Negative on function of the TV has been the share application from my computer to the TV. I haven’t been able to get that fully up and running. I believe the problem is with my computer, but as I get more information I will come back and edit.
