Easy to fly, stable, good camera for video,

First time playing with this quad, you will feel confident on how easy it’s to move it around. It’s a light quadcopter so with anything more than 5 mph+ it will starts to drift. One afternoon playing with it around my house, there was barely any winds and it was perfectly hovering in a spot. The quad stay docile in model, which is the slower more. The quad in mode2, which is the faster speed has insane maneuvering capability. With sharp pitch and roll you can definitely do some cool acrobatic with it.
The controller is well lay out and easy to learn. For those of you who never fly quadcopter before, you should watch some video on YouTube and get the basic principle of pitch, yaw, roll — and then play with something like this quadcopter but take it easy in an open field. Also, find a day where it isn’t so windy, which will greatly help you out. The quadcopter do come with headless mode, which can be switch on and off via the right trigger button. When it’s off, the light bulb on your LCD screen will go off. In this mode, pushing the stick toward you means it will go back and away from you mean it will go forward regardless of the orientation of the quad. This is good for beginner who really get confused with orientation, but I found it’s much better to just learn the orientation and control your quad then using it in this mode. I myself cannot fly in headless mode properly.
One thing you do want to remember is to start video recording prior to taking off so you don’t have to worry about messing with it while you’re flying. However, it’s easy to access both video and picture mode with a touch of a button below the LCD. Picture to me is somewhat useless in a quad like this because even in a steady hover the picture isn’t that great. The camera is of course 720p like it claims, and the video quality, although not extremely impressive, manage to be very stable. This make it a nice aerial video recording quad. Sadly it’s missing a live FPV which would make it perfect.
Battery wise, it takes about 90 minutes to charge both battery using the USB charger and each will last you for about 10 minutes of playing time. With the video rolling most of the time, I was able to get about 7-8 minutes with it.
Overall it’s a very nice quad copter and it comes with this ready to run package with 2 batteries which giving you up to about 20 minutes of play time. Although they recommend stopping in between to let motor cool off, I run it from one battery to the next without any issue. The quadcopter is light, and with the plastic body and blade guard, can take a lot of abuse and damage. It has falling out of sky a few time, hit tree, hit plants and still manage to work perfectly fine. The battery will fall out of the holder slot if you crash it quite often but the connector will keep it in place. With the camera, good run time with double batteries and easy to use, this is a great quad copter for those who’re looking to dip their foot into this hobby.

I got this USA Toyz quadcopter as a gift and it is great! I am more of an advanced flyer and like to sport fly more than anything. The UDI U818A is not a sport flyer though, but it IS a great entry level camera quad. The big protective ring doesn’t do it any favors in sport flying but it does make it extremely stable for getting good video.
The yaw on low is very slow and on high is still not as fast as like, but for taking video this is a good thing. A faster yaw would make the video hard to watch, the slower yaws help keep it steady and watchable.
This quad is super stable and take really great video for a toy quad. It is easy to fly and would make an excellent quad to learn to fly on and take awesome videos. It has 2 speed rates and in low it is perfect for beginners, while in high gives it enough power to maneuver through some wind. The protective ring will make it get pushed around in the wind, but it can push through it in high. I find that moving it upwind and letting it drift downwind makes for some really steady shots.
It has an awesome function where the transmitter will start beeping when the quad has low battery. This is great because if you’re really high in the air you won’t be able to see the warning lights on the quad. With this feature you will be able to safely get it back to you in plenty of time before the battery runs out.
It has headless mode and RTH and they both work fairly well for a toy quad. Without GPS they are not always reliable, but they do work pretty good.
Overall I really like this quad a lot. I would highly recommend it to beginners and intermediates who want to learn how to fly and film before they get a high dollar camera quad. It is a very nice to fly and would be very easy to learn with.
The video I posted is some footage from the quad when I took it to the beach. The video might not look as good on Amazon as it does on my computer due to the restrictions Amazon has on file size.

|Excellent quad for beginner and experienced flyers,
TLDR version: It flies very nicely. It’s light as a feather and moderate winds will not treat it kindly. It’s robust and very well made. The transmitter works perfectly, is not toyish looking and feels good in big hands. The display on the transmitter shows when video and still photo modes are active.
The videos from the camera are really impressive and I will upload one to this review, when Amazon stops losing video reviews AGAIN.
This is a really good quad for beginner pilots. It flies very well, it’s stable and is very robust.
Since it is very light, moderate winds can carry it and it would be easily lost, so caution should be used on windy days.
I was flying it one day and inadvertently had it entirely too high, the winds carried it 3 blocks over. I lost complete sight of it, so I start hoofing it to where I hoped it might have come down. No such luck, it was no where to be seen. So, I came back and got in my truck and drove a block over and still no luck. I drove another block and talked to a youngster that had seen it coming down, but lost sight of it. So, I recruited him to help me locate it. I knew it had some power left in the battery, but not a whole lot. The youngster started looking high and I looked low. I was hitting the throttle every 30 or so seconds with a quick up and down, so that we could maybe hear it. THAT worked. The youngster heard it and pointed to it about 60 feet up in a VERY tall pine tree. So, now that I have located it, I can only hope that nudging the throttle and releasing it will free it from the branch. Lady luck was smiling on me that day, it did get loose from the branch and I let it fall, because I had no idea if it was damaged or if it would even fly, after being hung on the branch. It landed in some pine straw and the youngster picked it up and brought it to me. I thanked him up one side and down the other.
I came home and gave it a good eye-ball inspection to see if I could see any damage. I saw nothing out of the ordinary.
I replaced the battery and crossed my fingers. I set it on the ground to see if lady luck was still grinning. It took off and flew exactly as it should.
I have since put my name and phone number on some paper and taped it on the underside with packing tape.
