  I read many reviews online and was a little hesitant at first but just went for it since you cant really tell how this TV will perform until you get it in your home. After calibrating the TV I think the picture is pretty incredible comparing to my old 46″ Sharp Aquos. 4K UHD content from Netflix and YouTube look amazing. BluRay, HD Plex (from Apple TV) movies look incredible. Decent HD cable signals look great. Personally, nothing against 4K UHD, but its difficult to tell the quality difference of 4K UHD and a Blu Ray movie when sitting at the ideal viewing distance from a 55″ TV. If you are standing a foot away from the screen though, 4K content is absolutely gorgeous. The same is true if you were standing 5 feet away from a smart phone with/without a retina screen. Now hold that same phone a foot away from your face… yes the text is more clear. Just use some common sense here.

  I will say the feeds at stores are a bit dull and its impossible to tell differences when the TVs viewing angle in stores aren’t realistic, settings are super blown out and you are surrounded by florescent lighting.

  For the price, take this TV home, set it up, run it through some basic calibration, turn off all the fancy picture settings (that most times make your picture worse), turn the backlight down when viewing in complete darkness and enjoy a stunning picture. Take the negative reviews with a grain of salt. These people are lazy, rely on default settings, putting a lamp in front of the TV and wonder why there is reflection or are thinking they should be getting the same quality as a $9,000 OLED display.

  UPDATE: I ended up returning this TV and went with a Samsung UN55KU6290 which is the same price. I have to say, a HUGE improvement over the LG 55UH6150. If you’re a stickler for specs and have an eye that can tell a difference, LG’s IPS panel does produce “gray” blacks, this is so apparent when looking at this side-by-side with the 6290. Another big thing for me that was a disappointment is LGs use of RGBW subpixel structure. Do your research on RGBW first, I wish I would have. I am much happier with the UN55KU6290, night and day difference.

  I’m not going to go into full detail about this TV, but will give my general opinion about the picture quality and color. I have to say that after a month of use, I’m not entirely impressed and am leaning on returning it. The price says it all for this model. You are paying less than $800 for a UHD TV because it’s at the low end of UHD TVs in both picture quality and color. As with most LG TVs, the picture appears a little too dark. There is little to no definition in dark shadowy areas. Bright, colorful scenes appear to have a slight overcast. There is little UHD content out there, but I have viewed plenty of UHD Netflix shows streaming at over 48 Mbps, and meh. The picture is grainy. Highlights are washed out and muddy. Strange ghosting appears around characters during fast action scenes. I’ve tried various settings, including turning off Tru-motion, etc. but I’m still underwhelmed. If it weren’t for the price, I would have returned this TV weeks ago. Still on the fence because I’m not sure I what to shell out an additional $1,000 for a “real” UHD TV from Samsung.

  This is a great tv and has great picture quality. I replaced an LG Android TV with this TV and could not be happier. I have both Netflix and Amazon Prime 4K content and both look amazing. Don’t leave the picture on the default mode. I changed mine to standard because that’s what I prefer. Anyways overall this is a great product and I cant believe the price! I wish it had more HDMI ports but oh well that’s what HDMI switches are for.
