Superb Sound At A Good Price.,
I generally find Denon equipment emphasizes a bit too much on the midrange frequencies, and the Denon AH-C50MASR Studio Quality In-Ear Headphones are no exception, but besides that, they sound great. They are well balanced on opposite sides of the spectrum – good bass and nice crisp and breathy highs. For my taste the mid range frequencies are slightly shrill without any tone control applied. Of course everyone has their own tastes of how things should sound and comments are totally subjective. If I use the headphones on an iPhone or an iPod nano with the EQ on “Loudness” which cuts down the on the mids, and emphasizes the bass a bit more, the headphones sound superb.
For those who really want full control of their sound, the box tells you to download the Denon Audio app for $1.99 from the App store, which allows complete control of the frequency curve from 32 Hz up to 16KHz. It can really make a difference to those who know how to use it. It comes with several presets, none of which I liked, so I made up my own and named them, now I can select them whenever I wish. If the EQ is overused the sound can be really muddy and distorted, so use it with care. The Audio app is a full function music player, very similar to the one on the iPhone. When the music plays you can watch the real-time spectrum analyzer or view the album art if you wish. The Audio app has Tune In Radio built into it, giving it the ability to also be EQ’ed to the listener’s liking. If the music is being pumped through Bluetooth or wired speakers you now have the capability to make them sound better than ever. It even makes the iPhone speaker sound clearer and brighter, just make sure to pick the highest quality stream for best results. Of course it sounds best using Denon’s earbuds.
As with most in ear headphones, these Denons require that you find your ear’s sweet spot to get the best sound, which is generally at an upward angle once they are placed in the ear canal. To make sure that the buds fit properly in your ear Denon provides several sizes of silicone tips that should fit just about everyone’s ear shape and size – the medium size comes pre-installed. These In-Ear headphones block all outside noise from coming in, so care must be used when listening to them. I wouldn’t recommend using them in areas where there is a lot of motor vehicular traffic (unless you are just sitting down on a bench). I used them with my iPod nano, while cutting the grass, and the lawn mower was barely audible over the music, which wasn’t even that loud. With the music off, or during quiet passages you can hear yourself breathing with the ear buds in place.
Overall, Denon’s AH-C50MA In ear headphones provide a superb sound at a decent price point. For my own taste I find the midrange frequencies a little overemphasized, but others may disagree. Adjusting the tone on the device I was using easily fixed this issue, and downloading the Audio App allowed my to tweak the audio further. Denon really should provide some sort of storage and travel pouch for these headphones – they look messy sitting on a table when not being worn, and I’ve gotten one with headphones that cost half as much.

They sound great and fit well.,
The Denon’s are understated, but stylish. They have polished end caps, with dark chrome accents. The materials and the fit and finish are high. Included with the headphones are three silicon ear tips; small, medium, and large. Also included is a short extension cable, although I am unsure what anyone would need it for. I never needed it when using the Denons with my iPhone 5s.
The Denons have a small built-in microphone and a single button that is attached a couple of inches down from the right ear-bud. The button allows you to control music playback and take calls/use voice command. It’s very intuitive and simple to use.
Sound quality of the Denons is high. I listened to all types of music, from jazz, to country, to pop and all of it sounded nice. Bass was strong without being overpowering, and high were also nicely rendered. Overall, I found they produced very balanced and attractive sound. Since the Denons close off the opening of the ear canal so well I was also able to hear subtle instruments and vocals that I would have missed otherwise. The one downside of their excellent noise isolation is that I could also hear myself breathing at times.
The Denons are comfortable and I found that the medium sized ear tips fit my average sized ears best. The headphones fit snuggly, but are never uncomfortable, and even after walking briskly for a mile they only shifted a little bit. I’m not sure they are made for running, but for modest activity levels they should work fine. They are also light in weight. The cord is long enough to not tug on the headphones when you move, but not so long that it gets in the way.
All in all… you can’t ask for much more from ear-buds.

Clear sound,
No thrills, no fancy packaging, not many extras but the Denon AH-C50 MASR took care of the most important: the sound.
The package says: “Studio Quality” and I believe the headphones were tuned to have the flattest response.
The range goes from 20Hz to 23KHz. The headphones are capable of rendering bass and Infra-bass well but there may be a feeling of still not enough bass to be fully satisfying. The sound is very clear.
I also tested the microphone quality and it is good.
The Pros:
– Very reasonably priced.
– Sound much better than its price
– Mic and remote included
The cons:
– Very little accessories, No pouch.
– Bass could be pushed a little more.
– Sound is still “In your head” due to the closed design…
Conclusion:
I actually am very pleased with these reasonably priced set. I would definitely recommend it.
